Ebeth Scott-Sinclair began drawing as a child and experimented with various mediums through the years. After college, she pursued careers in nonprofit management in the fields of mental health and history. Since she had little time to take art classes, she became a "conspicuous doodler." She found herself creating paintings in her mindseye with the intention of bringing the images to canvas some day. Then in one year, her life went through a major transformation. She married, became a step-mom, enrolled in her first painting class and found her voice in her artwork.Ms. Scott-Sinclair's work is a synthesis of primitive art and "soft cubism." Each piece is characterized by surface texture and an inter-play of vivid colors. A palette knife on wet paint is sometimes used for drawing a flow of lines and shapes that explore a connection between defined and undefined, emotion and gesture. The influences of Klee, Modigliani, Klimt, Matisse and Feininger as well as her love of history and the human spirit are apparent in her work. Ms. Scott-Sinclair is represented by the Hughes Gallery, Boca Grande Florida. Her paintings are in many private collections. She exhibits locally and in the southeast. Artist Statement "Art is such a powerful communicator for the artist and the viewer. It's an expression of the conscious and unconscious. It inspires dialogue. The process of creating provides an opportunity to take risks, to find our own internal limits and stretch beyond them. In my work, each image reflects the influences of the moment - sunlight or rain, the sound of wind in the trees, a piece of music, a book I am reading, a conversation. I am fascinated by the texture and color emerging on a canvas. These two elements guide me as well as provide physical and emotional support, a reassuring resistance with which to work. It's as if I lean into a painting and experience a different world."
