Mike Donner was born in Ohio in 1955. He attended OSU from 1973-74 then went on to study privately with realist painter Donald S. Boncela, an instructor at the Cleveland Institute of Art. In the late 1980’s Mike attended the Charles Hawthorne School of Impressionism in Provincetown, Massachusetts (now called the Cape Cod School of Art, as Hawthorne had named it) and studied with then Master painter, Henry Hensche.Artist Statement Transforming intangible thought into tangible reality, taking mental and spiritual consciousness and giving it Life through two-dimensional visualization is the goal of my Conceptual Paintings – to step beyond the obvious, to bring a different perspective to the mundane existence of sameness. Anyone can come up with a formula to satisfy the masses. How well the artist interprets the breakup of space through the rules of fine art and creativity is what separates the average from the exceptional. The ability and sincerity of the artist’s work validates its immortality: the thought that the work remains eternal is my motivating factor.
