Semler His work for the United States Coast Guard Art program includes nine paintings in their permanent collection and a painting of the USCGC Eagle, part of the historic mural project of the Class of 1962, for the Coast Guard Academy in New London, CT. He is currently involved in a series of paintings of the last remaining American luxury liner, the SS United States, as well as being a member of the SS United States Conservancy, an organization devoted to preserving and restoring this last grand lady of the high seas. A Signature Member of the American Society of Marine Artists for 24 years, Robert served as their president for 5 years and has served as vice-president, and is a long time member of their Board of Directors. He is also a member of the NY Society of Illustrators and the Portrait Society of America. His works have appeared in several books devoted to marine art, including "Painting Ships, Shores and the Sea", North Light Books; "A Gallery of Marine Art", Rockport Publishers; "Bound For Blue Water", Greenwich Workshop Press and "SS United States, the Fastest Ship in the World", Turner Publishing. |
